Willie's Long Ride Is Reaching The End
You know what they say: You can't make old friends. Country icons Loretta Lynn and Willie Nelson enjoyed some quality time together while in Nashville for the 2019 CMA Awards on Wednesday night (Nov. 13).
On Thursday (Nov. 14), Lynn posted a photo of herself and Nelson to Instagram; the two are sitting at the table on Nelson's tour bus, chatting with each other as Nelson smiles. "It was so good to see so many friends. I loved catching up with my buddy Willie Nelson!" Lynn writes of her CMA Awards experience.
Nelson was part of the CMA Awards performance lineup this year for the first time since 2012; he performed "Rainbow Connection" with Kacey Musgraves. Lynn, meanwhile, was not onstage during the big show, but had a place of honor in the audience as a group of female artists performed an opening medley that featured Lynn's song "You're Looking at Country."
It's been a relatively slow year for Lynn, who suffered a stroke in May of 2017 and fell and broke her hip in early 2018. She's stayed largely out of the public eye, save for a massive birthday party at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena back in April and making public statements on social media to shut down tabloid rumors about her health and promote the recent Lifetime film Patsy & Loretta.
Nelson, meanwhile, is still actively touring, but televised performances from the country icon have been few and far between in recent years. Earlier this year, the 86-year-old had to cancel multiple performances due to "breathing problems," and has dealt with issues stemming from emphysema and pneumonia sporadically over the past five years.

I was all ready to go to your concert show in Laughlin, NV couple years back. Had my tickets in hand and room reserved!! Alas, you took ill in San Diego, CA and your shows were cancelled until further notice, of which I received none. I do thank God above for being able to see you in Primm, NV at the Buffalo Bill Hotel and Casino quite some time ago. I would have loved to have met you, and to have shared some greenery with ya. I'm truly loving what you've done for all them horses. I too am a horse person, all my life I've owned and loved them and love to ride just not as far or as hard as I use to! God bless you and that "Red Headed Stranger"!! Thanks for all the wonderful music, we played a lot of your tunes when We had a little Bluegrass Band going on. So sorry I never had the chance to talk with you and share a story or two. Once again, God bless you and I thank you, Monta Sue Rowe, forever Willie!!!

We will look long and hard to replace willie and his unique singing style. I saw his act once somewhere in austin years ago and was thrilled. Fight on, Willie, for all of us 80 plu guys who like a little mystery smoke occasionally!
Those are indeed two of his best!! I also love his version of Crazy. He should know how to perform it - he wrote it!!!
When Willie joins that Heavenly choir the earth will have lost the last of a truly great generation of singers. We will be the poorer for it.
If Willie or one of his aids reads this call me. I can help him to breath. Dr. Ure 417-644-2788
